Silhouettes: "Turn" by Daphne Tunes

Silhouettes: "Turn" by Daphne Tunes

Introducing Silhouettes, a new Sunroom series featuring previously unreleased tracks from artists we love. We are incredibly excited for the first installment, courtesy of Daphne Tunes from Austin, Texas. Santiago Dietche, the force behind the project, had this to say about “Turn”:

This song was probably the song that began Daphne Tunes. It was written in 2015 when I was in a collaborative writing project with my good friend Blair Robbins called Rain Collectors. We were just coming to a stopping point in our time working together as both of us wanted to move toward more independent endeavors. This was a song I wrote about lamenting the inevitability of change both personally for myself and externally for my peers. We played it live in the Rain Collectors format for a few shows but never released this recording. Blair never got the chance to record on the track so I waited years without releasing the tune, but I’m so glad it can finally see some light!

I think it comes across as a parting of ways, but with many breaks there’s always a sense of “see you later” that I try to hold onto on this track.
